Carpet Cleaning FAQs

Is there anything I should do to prepare for your arrival?

It’s a good idea to vacuum before we arrive and make sure that toys small items are picked up from the floor. We carefully move all reasonable furniture and put it back in place. However, we do ask that you remove all breakables such as lamps, knick-knacks, and photo frames.

What happens when you arrive?

When the technicians arrive, they will conduct a pre-inspection of the rooms and/or items to be cleaned, noting any heavily soiled areas, traffic patterns, and stains. They will also discuss the cleaning process with you and answer any questions you may have.

To ensure the most thorough cleaning, our technicians will pre-treat the carpet, and then clean the carpet using deep steam extraction. Finally, they will return any furniture to its original location, placing protective blocks under the legs. Once all rooms/upholstery have been cleaned, the technicians will complete a final inspection with you to ensure that you are 100% satisfied with the cleaning.

How long will my carpet take to dry?

While our truck-mounted vacuum system removes 95% of the moisture immediately, your carpet or upholstery may still be damp to the touch. Drying time depends on some variables such as: the thickness of pile and fibers, the weather conditions, and the air circulation in your home.

Using fans in the rooms cleaned and turning on your air conditioning or heating system, depending on the season, can help accelerate drying time. Be sure to leave the protective blocks under the furniture in place until the carpet is completely dry to avoid any color transfer.

How soon can I walk on the carpet?

You may walk on your carpet immediately after cleaning, but avoid wearing street shoes, as they may re-soil your carpet. Be especially careful when walking from damp, carpeted areas on to non-carpeted areas to avoid slipping.

What happened, stains reappeared after the carpet dried?

Occasionally stains may reappear immediately after the carpet dries. This process is called “Wicking”. Wicking occurs when a liquid has been spilled on the carpet (usually a large quantity).

Deep Steam Cleaning removed the stain from the carpet fibers and the top of the carpet backing. However, liquid from the initial spill still remains in the carpet backing or padding. Through capillary action, the stain can “wick” back up into the carpet fibers while drying.

These stains are not permanent and typically can be removed by simply gently wiping the affected area with a clean damp cloth.

How often should my carpet be cleaned?

We recommend cleaning residential carpet with medium traffic at least once a year. Doctors recommend that people with allergies and Asthma clean their carpeting and upholstered furniture every 3 to 6 months. Vacuuming alone will not do the trick. Professional cleaning is the key to killing dust mites which are the number one cause of allergens in the indoor environment.

Note: Carpet protector is strongly recommended as it can prevent many permanent stains, assist in resisting traffic area damage and make future cleaning more effective. Regular foot traffic removes much of the factory protection from your carpet, leaving your carpet unprotected could allow permanent stains, premature wear and cause a lower appearance level. Ask your technician about carpet Protector.

I have allergies and worry if the chemicals you use will bother me?

The cleaning agents we use are environmentally safe, completely nontoxic, and safe for people with allergies, children, and pets. Rugs and furniture can harbor soil and other contaminates. Properly cleaning your carpet and furniture will remove the built up soil and contaminates to improve indoor air quality and reduce allergens.
